Kunstenaar Walter Langley
"Walter Langley was a first class landscape and genre artist who was born in Birmingham in 1852.
He began his professional life as an engraver's apprentice after studying at the Birmingham School of Art. In 1882 he moved to the artistic colony at Newlyn, where he created the majority of his works.
In 1881 he became an Associate of the Birmingham Royal Society of Artists, and in 1884 was honoured with membership. The Italian Government commissioned a portrait in 1897 for their Museum of Services, and Langley was awarded the Medaillon d'Or in Paris in 1889 at the Exposition Universelle as well as their Bronze Medal in 1890.
Langley died in London in 1922, one of the Newlyn School's most respected artists."
