Kunstenaar Jane-Ann Butler
Born in a market town nestled in the beautiful countryside of Devizes, Wiltshire, in England, Jane-Ann Butler’s interest in photography came at the age of 10 after a Polaroid present from her parents. Photography became fun and instant ever since. However, it wasn’t until the age of 28 when Butler picked up the camera to use it as a form of expression. Her subjects became her surroundings and the details of nature.
Butler uses 35mm and medium format films for her cameras. She has also started to incorporate digital manipulation into traditional photography. The initial rapport acts as a catalyst, illustrating the character, sensuality and mystique of her subjects. The manipulation, not of the form itself, but of the color and appearance helps Butler take her interpretation a step further, revealing the spirit and quality that initially draws her eye.
As a self-taught artist, Butler has exhibited in many areas of England and is represented commercially through international photo libraries and agents.
